Anthology film "America's Dream" from 1996 tells three stories that each focus on a distinct facet of African-American history, culture, and living. The movie, which is set in a number of eras and places, tackles issues of racial identity, love, resiliency, and African-American experience. The stories, which are adaptations of works by Richard Wright, John Henrik Clarke, and Maya Angelou, show a farmer dealing with racial tensions, a young child using art to challenge social standards, and old friends thinking back on their history.
